VFRC Appoints new members to the Board of Advisors

January 1, 2014 – Washington, D.C., USA – The Virtual Fertilizer Research Center (VFRC) has appointed five new members to its Board of Advisors. The 12-member board represents leaders from a wide range of fields necessary for sustainable agricultural development, including the fertilizer and seed industry, agricultural development, research and education, health and nutrition, soil science, water conservation and policy.

VFRC Releases Report on Early Phosphorus Uptake

December 2, 2013 – WASHINGTON, D.C., USA – The Virtual Fertilizer Research Center has released the final paper of 2013 in its series of reports that explore the basis of the Center’s research agenda. The fourth report, written in cooperation with scientists from Plant Research International, a research institute connected with Wageningen University and Research Center, explores early uptake of the nutrient phosphorus (P).

VFRC Releases Report on Planetary Boundaries

November 20, 2013 – WASHINGTON, D.C., USA – The Virtual Fertilizer Research Center has released the third paper in its series of reports that explore the basis of the Center’s research agenda. The third report, written in cooperation with scientists from Plant Research International, a research institute connected with Wageningen University and Research Center, describes a methodology to assess the impact of fertilizer strategies on planetary boundaries, i.e., the limits of natural resources that constitute a “safe operating space for humanity.”

Board Members Discuss VFRC Mission and Vision

June 6, 2013 – MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala., USA – The board of advisors (BoA) for the Virtual Fertilizer Research Center (VFRC) took part in video interviews during its 2012 annual meeting. These interviews, which have been added to the VFRC and IFDC websites (www.vfrc.org and www.ifdc.org), emphasize the urgent need for rapid, goal-oriented research and development in new fertilizer technologies and improved agricultural practices.
